In the Bolivian town of San Buenaventura in 2018, the residents took the unusual step of putting their mayor in the stocks. The unfortunate mayor, Javier Delgado (pictured below), was being punished for lying and incompetence.
This is a complete inversion of how stocks were used historically, where the authorities would put ordinary citizens in the stocks. Unfortunately I doubt that this idea will catch on. If every lying and incompetent politician was put in the stocks, we would need a lot of stocks.
